Reflecting Text

By using PSP9, I'm going to show you how to create reflecting text.

Open up PSP and create a new image. Mine is 450x250. Fill it in with whatever colour you'd like. I'm just going to use plain white.

Click on your text button. Set your settings to whatever you want. This works best with a simple font, such as Century Gothic. Apply the text and place it somewhere on your image where you will still have room to have a reflection just below it.

Next, create a new image and set it to about the same size as your original. Click on the gradient tool near your Materials palette:

Next, click on that colour which you've chosen the gradient for. You should see this screen:

Click on the arrow on the right of the preview gradient:

I chose Fading Background from the menu. It should look similar to this, but instead of pink, it will have your chosen colour:

Then type in the same text you had on your original image, but use the gradient instead as the font colour. Make sure your solid colour is on the bottom, and transparency is on the top.
Next, click on Image > Flip. Now you're ready to paste it onto your original image. You wll need to zoom in to make sure it matches up exactly. This is how mine turned out:

I added some more text, a border, and a brush to decorate it and used it as a website header. You may need to play around with the gradient to get it just the way you want it. I made mine have more white so it would fade more. Just click on the "Edit" button on the Materials palette window and play around with it.
